There are weddings that stay with you long after you pack up your camera — and Karina and Jake's winter celebration at Skyland Manor is absolutely one of them.
Set against the dramatic backdrop of a Gothic stone castle draped in Christmas wreaths, this was the kind of wedding that felt like a fairytale from the very first moment. With a color story of deep emerald green, crisp ivory, and classic black, every detail was intentional, romantic, and breathtakingly beautiful.
Getting Ready at the Manor
The day began inside Skyland Manor itself, where the groom prepared in the estate's warm, wood-paneled library — a moment made even more meaningful with family by his side. Upstairs, Karina was getting ready to make her grand entrance down one of the most spectacular staircases I've ever photographed: a sweeping, red-carpeted staircase with ornate carved wood railings that felt like it was made for a bride in a cathedral gown.
And what a gown it was. Karina's strapless ballgown with its sweeping lace cathedral train was simply stunning — the kind of dress that commands an entire room.
The First Look
One of my favorite moments of the entire day was the first look inside the manor. Jake turned around in that gorgeous wood-paneled parlor with its crackling fireplace, surrounded by their closest friends — and the look on his face said everything. Pure joy. Pure love.
The Church Ceremony
Karina and Jake exchanged their vows in a traditional church ceremony, complete with a candle lighting ritual and a beautiful stained glass rose window as their backdrop. Photographed from above, the moment Karina walked down the aisle — her cathedral train cascading behind her, pews filled with everyone they love — is one of those images that will last a lifetime.
After the ceremony, the bridal party lined the church steps in their emerald green velvet gowns and black tuxedos, and Jake gave Karina the most perfect dip kiss as confetti rained down around them. This photo? This is the one I'll be talking about for years.
Portraits at Skyland Manor
Back at the manor, we had the grounds to ourselves. We used every inch of this extraordinary venue: the grand entrance where the castle looms above a stone driveway, the arched doorways draped in ivy, the tall leaded-glass windows inside where the soft natural light fell perfectly on the couple. Karina's train sprawled across the gravel with the stone towers rising behind her — it was a scene straight out of a storybook.
The bridal party photos in front of the manor's arched entrance are equally spectacular — twelve people in jewel-toned emerald velvet and black tie, the ivy-covered stone facade behind them, Christmas wreath overhead. This is the Hudson Valley winter wedding energy that dreams are made of.
